Attended a sad funeral recently of someone taken suddenly, and was reflecting on the same thing. It was a pause in the busy-ness of life, a large group of people who didn't necessarily know each other, sharing collective grief. It felt so....human, in such a beautiful way.
I experienced many traditional European funerals of different faiths before I attended my first Tangihanga. There is certainly many extra dimensions for whanau & friends and it feels more about them & the person they have lost than the 1hr at the church & a cuppa tea version for me.
