This week I submitted on the Budget Policy Statement for 2026, and I pulled together a range of statistics around poverty, disability, nutrition, and education.
The NZ Herald is part of the NZME Grenon / Joyce stable . So not surprising to find "a piece by Johnathon Ayling (previous head of FSU) in the NZ Herald today..."
We need our own organizations to constantly point out the greed. When I was young there were cartoons of “fat cats” rich old men with their big bellies. Are there any satirists and cartoonists out there who can do this work?
They have a place but are seen as radical left. They do good work but we need more, with many different ways of communicating. To seem normal and reasonable to the right while pushing left wing policies eg economic responsibility is spending some money now to prevent big cleanup costs. “This is a great cost cutting measure”

Have a lovely day! 💚🖤❤️
Check out Mountain Tui, here on substack for more on the Atlas Network and it's ties in NZ. They are strongly linked to National Cabinet MPs too.

Well said Dr. Bex. Thanks again.
Timely post. Thanks. Have you seen this from a couple of weeks ago: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-01-26/atlas-network-mont-pelerin-society-neoliberal-think-tanks/105700628
I had not! Good to see some wider recognition occurring in mainstream settings. Perhaps all is not lost?
