At every turn of this COG’s attack we are all complaining of the same issues. As you say - no consultation! Fascisim is its name.

Great article. As I said in my submission on this, the bill assumes that disabled people haven’t already exhausted all available family and community support, and that families even want to support their disabled family member, that they're not abusive and that at least one person is willing to give up a lifetime of paid work to caretake for free. Because unlike what this bill seems to suppose, caregiving is *work*. Hard, unglamorous, messy work.

Of course we have already exhausted all options - otherwise we wouldn't need the help! (Sadly my submission was slightly late so I'm hoping they decide to accept my emailed copy.)

My disabled friend also pointed out how unfair it is that they are excluded from ACC even though they developed their disability over a period of time, and how unfair it is that they are being asked to constantly prove their 'entitlement' to less than half of what the Minister is claiming just in accommodation supplements each week but that has to fund their entire life and all the complex support needs of their chronic condition. They also pointed to the lack of consultation in the community and how it's a direct breach of the 2025 promise to engage the community before making changes to legislation.

I hope we can stop this from becoming law.
