Wednesday joy
A little positivity to lift your spirits on'hump day'
I really enjoyed Bryan Bruce’s Monday starter this week, it was a much-needed wee lift, and a timely reminder of the quiet good that people can and do make happen:
For all the grim and the grind, there are some amazing people quietly getting on and bringing joy to others.
One such pocket of joy is Wish 4 Fish.
The aim of Wish 4 Fish is to assist people with physical disabilities or mental unwellness get out on the water and enjoy the freedom and pleasure of the ocean waters.
The weekend just been they partnered with Parafed Waikato and took a group of young people with various disabilities out on the water. And yes, it included our 11-year-old, who was so very excited to finally be going fishing with her Dad.
Look at the grin on that face as she caught her very first fish:
What really made the day was the attitude and approach of those providing the service; all the families had a great time, felt respected, appreciated the care and sensitivity of the staff, and of course all our young people had a fabulous time catching fish. There were a great many grins on faces - if you head on over to the Parafed Waikato Facbeook Page, there’s a bunch of photos of the day.
In what has been a very hard year, this wee pocket of disability joy, was most timely indeed. Delightful.
